Early Morning – 6:30 AM
The day starts early at J&D Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. As I pull into our headquarters in Cape Coral, the Florida sun hasn’t even made its appearance yet. After checking my service schedule for the day, I load up the van with necessary parts and equipment.
Morning Calls – 8:00 AM
My first stop is in Fort Myers, where an elderly couple’s furnace has been making unusual noises. During winter months in Southwest Florida, even though it’s mild compared to up north, a properly functioning heating system is essential for those chilly nights.
Mid-Morning – 10:30 AM
Heading to Bonita Springs for a routine heating service call. Regular maintenance is crucial for preventing major breakdowns, especially in our coastal environment where salt air can accelerate wear and tear on HVAC components.
Lunch Break – 12:00 PM
A quick lunch in Estero before tackling the afternoon schedule. I use this time to check messages and coordinate with dispatch about an emergency heating repair in North Fort Myers.
Afternoon – 2:00 PM
The emergency call turns out to be a furnace replacement consultation. Living in Florida means we deal with unique heating challenges – systems might go unused for months, then need to perform perfectly on those few cold nights.
Late Afternoon – 4:30 PM
Final call of the day in the Villas area involves a heater installation. As I wrap up, I ensure the customer understands their new system’s operation.
Key daily responsibilities include:
- Diagnostic troubleshooting
- System maintenance
- Installation oversight
- Customer education
- Safety inspections
Every day brings different challenges, but ensuring our Southwest Florida community stays comfortable regardless of the weather makes it all worthwhile.
End of Day – 6:00 PM
Back at headquarters, I complete paperwork, restock the van, and prepare for tomorrow’s adventures in HVAC service across our beautiful region.
